The TCST2103 from Vishay Semiconductor Opto Division is a high-precision transmissive (slotted) optical sensordesigned for reliable object detection in encoders, counters, optical switches, and automation systems. This through-hole photo interrupter integrates an infrared LED emitter and a phototransistor detector in a compact slotted housing for accurate and consistent switching performance.
With a 3.1 mm slot width and 1 mm aperture, the TCST2103 ensures excellent optical alignment and high sensitivity. It features fast response times—10 µs turn-on and 8 µs turn-off—making it suitable for high-speed motion detection applications. The built-in daylight blocking filter ensures stable operation by minimizing interference from ambient light.
Operating across a wide temperature range from –55°C to +85°C, and using a 950 nm infrared wavelength, this sensor is ideal for demanding industrial and commercial environments. Its Pb-free, through-hole design ensures ease of integration and long-term reliability.
