The TCST1103 from Vishay Semiconductor Opto Division is a high-performance transmissive (through-beam) optical sensor designed for precise object detection in automation, counting, and encoding systems. Featuring a compact slotted design, it integrates an infrared emitter and a phototransistor detector in a single through-hole package for accurate and reliable optical switching.
With a 3.1 mm slot width and a 1 mm aperture, the TCST1103 provides excellent optical isolation and fast switching characteristics—achieving 10 µs turn-on and 8 µs turn-off times. The integrated daylight blocking filter ensures stable operation even in environments with ambient light.
Engineered for durability, it supports a wide operating temperature range from –55°C to +85°C, making it suitable for industrial, consumer, and commercial applications. Common uses include optical limit switches, speed encoders, rotation sensors, paper detection, and other motion or position-sensing systems.
