The MAX13487EESA+ is a robust, high-performance half-duplex RS-485/RS-422-compatible transceiver from Maxim Integrated, designed for reliable industrial communication. Operating from a 5V supply, it features ±15kV ESD protection (HBM), making it suitable for harsh and electrically noisy environments.
This device integrates one driver and one receiver, supporting data rates up to 500 kbps with reduced slew-rate outputs to minimize EMI and cable reflections. It also supports up to 128 transceivers on the bus using its 1/4-unit load receiver input impedance.
Equipped with Maxim’s Auto-Direction control architecture, the MAX13487EESA+ simplifies communication in isolated or half-duplex RS-485 applications by automatically controlling TX/RX direction, eliminating the need for software-driven direction management. A built-in hot-swap capability prevents false bus transitions during live insertion or power-up, ensuring safe and stable network operation.
Housed in a compact SOIC-8 package, this transceiver is ideal for industrial, commercial, and embedded communication networks.
