The MOC3041 is a zero-crossing, TRIAC-driven optocoupler designed for reliable AC load interface applications. This device integrates an infrared LED and a TRIAC output stage within a DIP-6 through-hole package, providing robust electrical isolation and consistent triggering performance for AC switching systems.
Engineered to simplify microcontroller-to-AC power interfacing, the MOC3041 features a zero-cross detection circuitthat ensures the TRIAC activates only at the zero-voltage point of the AC waveform. This reduces electrical noise, minimizes EMI, and extends the life of downstream switching components.
With an input forward voltage of 1.25V, forward current up to 30mA, and LED trigger current as low as 15mA, the MOC3041 is well-suited for low-power logic control. The TRIAC driver section supports up to 400V output terminal voltage and a 1A peak current, suitable for triggering external TRIACs, MOSFETs, or SCRs used for higher-power AC loads.
