The TP5100 Lithium Battery Charge Management IC is a high-efficiency step-down switching charger designed for single or dual lithium-ion cells (4.2V / 8.4V). Packaged in a compact QFN-16 (4×4 mm), it supports wide input voltages from 5V to 18V, making it suitable for portable devices and high-current charging applications.
This IC offers programmable charge currents from 0.1A to 2A, with integrated trickle-charge, constant-current, and constant-voltage charging phases. Its 400kHz switching frequency allows the use of smaller external components while maintaining efficient thermal performance during high-current operation. The TP5100 also integrates a built-in PMOSFET, removing the need for an external Schottky protection diode.
With advanced protection features including overcurrent, under-voltage, over-temperature, reverse battery, and short-circuit protection, the TP5100 ensures safe and reliable charging. LED charge-state indicators and battery temperature monitoring further enhance system control and user feedback.
