The LM2596HVS-5.0 is a high-voltage, high-efficiency step-down (buck) switching regulator IC designed to deliver a stable 5V fixed output at up to 3A load current. As part of the HVS (High Voltage Series), it supports a wide input voltage range up to 50V, making it ideal for industrial, automotive, and high-voltage DC systems.
With a built-in 150 kHz fixed-frequency oscillator, the regulator ensures compact power supply designs using smaller inductors and capacitors. The device offers excellent line and load regulation and includes critical protections such as thermal shutdown, current limiting, and output short-circuit protection.
The LM2596HVS-5.0 also features low quiescent current (≈30 µA) and an external shutdown pin, providing efficient power control for battery systems, buck converter modules, LED drivers, and embedded electronics requiring robust 5V regulation.
