The MAX491/MAX491CSD/MAX491ESD is a low-power, high-speed RS485/RS422 transceiver designed for robust differential data communication. Featuring one driver and one receiver, this IC provides reliable bidirectional data transfer over long distances and noisy environments—ideal for industrial automation, networking, security systems, and multi-drop communication buses.

Housed in a SOIC-14 package, the MAX491 supports half-duplex operation with low power consumption, high ESD protection, and excellent noise immunity. It fully complies with RS485 and RS422 electrical specifications, enabling long-line communication up to 250 kbps+ depending on bus configuration.
