The TM1628A from Titan Micro Electronics is a highly integrated LED display driver and key-scan controller IC, designed for multiplexed LED display systems and keypad scanning applications. Offered in a SOP-28 (300 mil)surface-mount package, it combines display driving, keyboard control, and serial communication into a compact and efficient solution ideal for home appliances, consumer electronics, control panels, and embedded display modules.
Supporting multiple display configurations—ranging from 10 segments × 7 digits to 13 segments × 4 digits—the TM1628A provides outstanding versatility for a wide variety of display formats. Its 8×2 key scan matrix allows up to 16 keys to be read with minimal microcontroller overhead.
The IC communicates with an MCU using a simple 3-wire interface (STB, CLK, DIO), greatly reducing pin count and simplifying PCB design. It features 8-level brightness control, a built-in RC oscillator, power-on reset, and operates reliably across a 3V to 6V supply range (logic supply: 4.5V to 5.5V).
