The CP2102-GMR USB to UART Bridge IC from Silicon Labs is a highly integrated single-chip solution designed to upgrade RS-232 systems to USB with minimal components and PCB space. This compact QFN-28 (5×5 mm) device integrates a USB 2.0 full-speed controller, USB transceiver, oscillator, EEPROM, and UART interface, eliminating the need for external USB components or crystals.
Supporting both self-powered (3.0–3.6V) and USB bus-powered (4.0–5.25V) operation, the CP2102 provides a reliable USB-to-serial interface compatible with a wide range of systems. The built-in UART supports complete RS-232 control and handshake signals, making it drop-in compatible for upgrading legacy serial designs. With support for Virtual COM Port drivers and USBXpress™ Direct Driver, it offers simple integration across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.
This IC is well-suited for embedded systems, USB adapters, industrial control devices, and development tools requiring stable and high-performance USB-to-UART communication.
