The NE555P is one of the most widely used and reliable precision timer ICs, capable of generating accurate time delays, pulses, and oscillations. Packaged in a standard DIP-8, it is ideal for breadboards, prototyping, and through-hole circuit designs.
The NE555P operates in both monostable (one-shot) and astable (oscillator) modes. In monostable mode, the timing interval is set using a single resistor–capacitor network. In astable mode, frequency and duty cycle are independently adjustable using two resistors and a capacitor. With the ability to source or sink up to 200mA, this IC can directly drive LEDs, relays, buzzers, and logic circuits.
Operating from 5V to 15V, the NE555P is compatible with TTL and CMOS logic. It is widely used in clock generators, pulse-width modulators, timers, tone generators, and a variety of analog/digital applications across consumer, industrial, aerospace, and embedded systems.
